The Pacelli project

he Pacelli Project was created to rediscover the music of Asprilio Pacelli (dates), a highly influential but currently little known Roman composer that served as the maestro di cappella of the Polish Royal Chapel in Warsaw at a time in which it was a cultural centre of Europe. Not only does The Pacelli Project seek to restore this tragically lost chapter of Poland's musical heritage but we also explore the spiritual passions that the music of the Catholic Reformation was composed to inspire.

To this end, the theatre director Christopher Fülling assembled a unique group of musicians and musicologists to create programs of Pacelli's and related music. Through reconstructing its ritual context or envisioning other appropriate environments, audiences are invited to experience the full emotionality of these compositions.
